Tara and myself are running two workshops for absolute beginners in Didsbury. Please take a look and pass on this information to anybody you know who might like to try Pilates or Yoga!

August Workshops – August 10th, 24th and 31st
The August workshops are nearly all full now. There are just a few places left on this Saturday’s yoga workshop which will be team taught by myself and Julia Osbeck. We will be exploring sun salutations and practising different versions of Surya Namaskara to mantras and metronome. In the afternoon I will do a short workshop on Rainbows, arching asanas which exude joy and openheartedness. We will end with the humming bee pranayama and yoga nidra. Not to be missed! The venue is Goostrey Methodist Church, which is just down the road from Knutsford and Holmes Chapel, around 40 mins drive from Didsbury. Please let me know if you would like to book a place on this workshop – simply send a quick note to me at [email protected]
Pilates at The Christie
In other news, I am really enjoying working with staff at The Christie Hospital teaching pilates. We are currently looking into putting on an extra class there on a Wednesday at the same time as the Monday class, 5.30-6.30pm, just need to find a suitable room and then we are good to go!
More classes in September
Looking forward to September, I will be tweaking the times of my Monday morning Fallowfield class to begin just slightly earlier at 10.15am. In addition, I may be adding an extra Hot Yoga class to the Tuesday evening timetable at the new Wilmslow studio Lotus Five, that has just opened on Grove Street in the town centre. Currently I teach there on Tuesdays 6.45-8pm, booking essential http://www.lotusfive.co.uk/
My lovely Friday lunchtime yoga classes at Gatley Tatton Studio will also be resuming in September – if you would like to book for the 6 week course please get in touch with Vered at Gatley Tatton Studio on 0161 428 8568. http://tattonhousestudio.co.uk/
Ok, that’s it for now – please check my timetable for all current classes and I hope to see you soon on the mat!
Leonie
One day yoga workshop with Julia Osbeck and Leonie Clements at Goostrey Methodist Church, CW4 8PA.
The one day workshop will focus on variations on the sun salutation (Surya Namaskara) along with time to experiment with some fun, playful poses which help keep our yoga practice lighthearted! Breathing (pranayama), mindfulness and relaxation in the afternoon.
10.30-3.30pm, please bring your own lunch. Tea and biscuits provided. £22. Booking essential, please contact me at [email protected]
Yoga is both a fun and playful journey and a rewarding learning process. This ancient holistic practice can uplift your spirits and calm your mind. A regular yoga practice can build reserves of inner strength and flexibility that can help improve every area of life.
My new Wednesday morning hatha yoga class is gentle enough for beginners but also has a focus on alignment and technique that will benefit and challenge seasoned yoga-goers.Participants will be encouraged to become more sensitively attuned to their bodies and not to over exert themselves, adhering to the yoga principles of ‘ahimsa’ (non violence/competitiveness towards yourself and others) and also Patanjali’s interpretation of ‘asana’ as a steady, comfortable pose.
This new Wilmslow yoga class is starting next Wednesday at 10am-11am at Dean Row Village Hall (check the timetable for further details). This is a lovely traditional village hall with lots of character, and is warm and cosy enough on bad weather days as it is centrally heated. You can choose to purchase the whole 10 week course for the specially reduced price of £50 or else drop in each week for £7 per session.
If you are thinking of coming along, please drop me a line so I have an idea of numbers – my email is [email protected]
One of my yoga regulars, Claire, is also a very experienced and intuitive reflexologist and massage therapist. She gave me a great tip for soothing sore muscles that I thought I would pass on to you, seeing as how pretty much everybody who comes to yoga is looking for a way to sleep better, destress their minds and relieve stiff joints and muscle aches. Her tip; soaking in a nice warm bath with a couple of mugs of epsom salts. Epsom salts are a traditional, natural way to get more of the mineral magnesium. Soaking in the bath will allow the salts to absorb through your skin and into your blood stream, working directly on the nervous system and helping also to help soothe any inflammation or sore muscles. To me, I can’t think of a nicer way to round off your night after a session of yoga – relaxing in a salt bath for at least 15 mins, to help you get a great night’s sleep. Here’s a link to find out more about the healing properties of Epsom Salts: http://www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/
The Bowdon Vale classes will unfortunately be closing after next week (May 14th) but I will also be starting up two new daytime classes from June. They will be both hatha yoga classes, at the following venues:
Dean Row Village Hall – Wednesdays 10-11am
Email me if you are interested in this Wilmslow class – [email protected]
Gatley Tatton House Studio – Fridays 12pm-1.30pm
You can book the Friday lunchtime class via this weblink:

Hope to see you soon on the mat!
…was a great success! Thanks to everyone who came down to the village hall to spend the afternoon with Julia and I. If you missed this workshop, we were looking at the core muscles, exploring uddiyana bandha through yoga asanas and pranayama and how to work up to some of the more challenging yoga postures through the pilates method. We focused on a few key balances, including bakasana (crane pose) – and saw some fantastic balances including side crane!
Dean Row Village Hall is a truly lovely little venue, very rustic and cosy, light and airy. It was described by one of our yoginis as something out of Beatrix Potter! The next workshop will be at the same venue on 23rd June – this time we will be exploring postures that release the spine, using a fusion of pilates and yoga. This workshop will be slightly longer, and as usual we’ll be providing a variety of tea and biscuits to keep us well fuelled!
Please get in touch if you would like to book.
